A Voice Workshop for Singers and Speakers

Saturday May 4th 10am - 4pm
If you know HOW your voice works – you can tailor it to your needs
- ‘See’ the sound of your voice in action using computer analysis
- Understand the ‘nuts and bolts’ of the singing/speaking voice
- Practice new techniques for resonance, quality and confidence
Morning workshop 10am – 12.30pm
Learn about the ‘nuts and bolts’ of the voice; how the voice works, its
physiology and acoustics
Practical activities

- measure your own vocal tract
- practical demonstrations
- working in difficult acoustics
- How the voice works
- What makes up vocal sound – the acoustics of voice
- How and why vocal projection works
- Why our voices change when we are tense or stressed
practiced and applied in the afternoon workshops
Afternoon session 1.30 – 4.00pm
There will be two workshops running concurrently, you can choose on the day
between.

- Projection without straining
- Engaging with an audience

- Enjoying words with confidence
- Resonance and vocal efficiency
Key topics will include
- Managing resonance without sacrificing the vowel
- Using text to your advantage
- Improve your vocal efficiency
- Myths and legends in practice and principle
- Common strategies and anecdotes explored
- Exploring the full range of colours in your voice • Performing to an audience
